Just a few minutes walk from the train station in buzzing East Dulwich is one of the best breakfast and brunch spots we’ve been to in South London. With a warm welcome from the wonderful staff, you know you’re in for a treat from the moment you walk in.

The menu has a whole host of breakfast favourites with a Golden Yolk twist to choose from including salmon and poached eggs, classic omelettes, poached eggs and smashed avocado on sourdough and an amazing selection of pancakes and French toast with mouth watering toppings such as fresh berries and yogurt, hot honey chicken and the classic American staples of bacon, eggs and maple syrup. There are also some amazing additions to your usual café fayre including Turkish eggs, mushroom mess and chorizo scrambled eggs – definitely worth a try! For something a little more simple there’s granola and  filled bagels and muffins boasting tasty combinations of egg, halloumi, cream cheese and mushrooms to name a few. And if you’re after a toastie, the toasted sando’s look amazing! From the classic grilled cheese, to the ultimate chicken melt – you certainly won’t be disappointed!

We decided to go for the Golden Yolk Full, a freshly cooked and beautifully presented take on a full English minus the grease but with the ultimate satisfaction factor. Made up of 2 fried eggs, 2 rashers of streaky bacon, Cumberland sausage, baked beans, garlic mushrooms, 2 hash browns and toasted sourdough it really was a breakfast of kings. Everything was cooked to perfection and lightly seasoned with herbs to give a touch of the Mediterranean whilst fully embracing the spirit of all you could want from an English breakfast. The hash browns were fluffy and light, yet had that satisfying crisp that makes you want to go back for more. The egg yolks were truly golden and cooked to our preference and the toasted sourdough was moreish and perfectly buttered.

In terms of drinks we opted for English breakfast tea, served in individual teapots with mini churns of milk which was a quaint touch. The smoothies looked fantastic and the coffee options were extensive including Turmeric and Matcha latte’s which certainly caught my eye.

Overall this definitely needs to go on your breakfast and brunch list when in and around South London and we guarantee that you will not be disappointed. We will 100% be going back and The Golden Yolk has made it firmly on to our top places to eat in London.

You can find The Golden Yolk at 43 Grove Vale, London, SE22 8EQ and follow them on Instagram @goldenyolklondon and on Facebook, and if you live nearby you can find them on Deliveroo.
